Case Study: Textile Manufacturing
Industrial Ventilation & Extraction System for New Latex Line Oven
Inergy Group designed and installed a high-performance industrial ventilation and extraction system for our existing client’s new Latex Line Oven in Huddersfield – featuring stainless steel ductwork, high-temperature compatible design, and precision installation in a live factory environment.
The Client
Our client, a leading textile manufacturer based in Huddersfield, sought to upgrade its facility to enable an innovative new line with the benefits of improved safety, air quality, and production efficiency. The core requirement was a specialist industrial ventilation and extraction system for its new Latex Line Oven – capable of handling high temperatures and continuous operation.
The Challenge
This site needed a custom-engineered extraction solution that could manage elevated air temperatures, maintain consistent airflow, and integrate seamlessly into their existing infrastructure. The project also had to be completed safely within a live production environment, where minimising downtime and disruption was critical. They approached Inergy Group for our experience with manufacturing HVAC challenges.
The Inergy Solution
Inergy Group delivered a full design, supply, and installation package for a high-performance stainless-steel ductwork and extraction system.
Scope of Works:
- Design & Fabrication of Grade 304 stainless-steel ducting in circular and rectangular sections
- 1250mm diameter circular ductwork with rolled sections, grooved seam joints, and flanged connections featuring neoprene gasket seals
- Segmented stainless-steel bends, internally sealed for maximum air tightness
- Custom rectangular branches with precision flanges
- Multiple stainless-steel access doors for inspection and maintenance
- Fabrication of a transition piece to connect to the existing exhaust stack
- Installation of a new inline extract fan (58,500 m³/hr airflow) positioned in the main 1250mm header duct
- Coordination of roof-level installation, including a contract crane lift for the 760kg fan unit (with support steels provided by others)
Overcoming Challenges
Late in the project, the system requirements were further upgraded to withstand temperatures up to 100°C. This demanded rapid redesign and reengineering by the Inergy Group team:
- Fans were modified to include motors mounted outside the airstream, preventing heat exposure
- All access doors and sealants were replaced with high-temperature-rated alternatives
- The full extraction system, including the 1250mm header duct, was constructed entirely from stainless steel for durability and performance
Throughout the installation, Inergy’s team maintained rigorous traffic management and safety protocols, ensuring the project was completed efficiently within an operational factory setting
Results So Far
The new industrial ventilation system was completed on schedule, meeting all performance, safety, and temperature-resistance requirements. Our client now benefits from a robust, efficient, and long-lasting extraction solution supporting their upgraded Latex Line Oven production line.
Client Feedback:
“The installation went smoothly, and the Inergy team worked seamlessly alongside our operatives. Their professionalism ensured minimal disruption to production.”
