Evaporative Cooling Explained
June 3, 2024How to Cool a Warehouse?
July 10, 2024As a business, you have a duty of care to provide a safe and comfortable working environment for your employees all year round. Air conditioning is now an essential part of many commercial, office, factory, or warehouse environments and becomes invaluable in the warmer Summer months. However, high running costs and unpredictable bills can be a worry to business owners and even though energy prices have fallen somewhat in recent months they still remain high.
At Inergy Group, this month’s blog looks at how to minimise the cost of your air conditioning this summer. For more, call us on 01204 929999.
So, what can you do to reduce these costs?
The first one is very simple and that is to make sure you keep as much of the heat out of the workplace as possible, even before you notice the temperatures rising. So, if your office space has blinds on the windows, keep them closed in Summer to reduce the heat gain in the room. This will help your air conditioning system by reducing the maximum cooling needed and it will speed up the time taken to reach the required temperature.
Secondly, make sure your air conditioning system maintenance is up-to-date. This is essential to keep the units running efficiently and effectively. Although a short task to complete, the air conditioning maintenance visit is vital. During this visit, the unit is thoroughly cleaned ensuring no harmful bacteria are residing in the unit or the pipework and the air filters are changed. These filters can become blocked with debris over time – blocked or impaired filters lead to the units working harder to achieve the temperature requirements and therefore using more energy, costing more to run. Inergy Group can provide a Summer Service for your air conditioning system book your visit here.
The third way to reduce the running cost of your air conditioning system is to always use the programmable thermostat option. By selecting the target temperature and allowing the unit to self-regulate, overall, less energy will be used and the room conditions will be comfortable. If you only use the on or off switch and set the air conditioning unit to maximum each time, again the unit will be working harder, using more energy and ultimately increasing the bills. This also makes the environment less comfortable, often becoming too cool and leading to cycles of employees turning the air conditioning on and off.
The fourth factor is the choice of air conditioning system. New, modern systems are designed with energy efficiency in mind and often contain innovative technologies to maximise the cooling capacity of the system whilst minimising the energy burden.
At Inergy Group we are proud to work with the market-leading air conditioning system manufacturers to supply the latest technology on new projects. As preferred suppliers for many of our brands, we can negotiate the best discounts to make your new project even more affordable. Given the impact of new technologies and the total cost of energy bills, we can help you evaluate if it will actually save you money to replace your ageing units and build in a regular maintenance program so you can have peace of mind that your air conditioning system is working optimally all year round.
