Local Extraction & Ventilation for Textiles
Our Client’s Goal
“Replace outdated, un-serviceable ventilation system with a new future-proof solution.”
Air Quality Gains with HVAC
Our client wanted to replace their existing outdated industrial ventilation system. In their large-scale manufacturing facility in West Yorkshire, they produce high-quality flooring and textile products for clients worldwide. The complex and variable production processes generate many air particulates which must be extracted from the facility. Having expertise with HVAC for workshops and warehouses, Inergy was a natural company to approach.
The Design Solution
Following an initial site survey, detailed measurements and calculations were completed to design a solution to solve the client’s problem. The design team presented a detailed proposal and technical drawings to demonstrate the required work fully. A costed quote was included to make sure budget considerations were met.
This project needed a combination of 2 integrated systems to tackle the air quality and heat production; these were:
-
- Local extraction ventilation (LEV)
-
- Conventional ventilation

LEV is an extract ventilation system that takes dust, mists, gases, vapour or fumes out of the air so they can’t be breathed in. Properly designed LEV will:
-
- Collect the air that contains the contaminants.
-
- Make sure they are contained and taken away from people.
-
- Clean the air (if necessary) and get rid of the impurities safely.
The large-scale production facility in question required conventional mechanical ventilation with roof-mounted extract fans.
In industrial spaces, mechanical ventilation is used to supply clean, fresh, uncontaminated air in sufficient quantities to dilute odours, fumes and contaminants in the air. New ductwork was needed, which was specified to be stainless steel – this is because, over time, corrosive particles from the product manufacturing would have damaged a galvanised system.
Health & Safety Considerations
Before the project, the client identified the need for a risk management solution for installing the roof-mounted extract fans.
Our IOSH-accredited engineers provided project-specific method statements & risk assessments, which were clear and easy to follow. The main contractor, health & safety manager and all Inergy operatives implemented a QA sign-off procedure, ensuring complete transparency over the document control, and ultimately everyone signed up for a safe ventilation system installation.
During the project, Inergy Group ensured that a high level of health and safety was maintained, protecting the integrity of the building and supporting the client to continue their normal operations throughout the installation.

HVAC Project Management & Installation:
Equipped to manage the entire project, from design to installation and operation, Inergy provided a dedicated team capable of executing numerous activities to ensure suitability on-site. Our comprehensive structural and health and safety surveys allowed us to present long-term project designs that maximised value for the client.
The results speak for themselves. Following the implementation of our ventilation and local extraction systems, our client is extremely pleased. The production facility’s environment has been completely transformed, tremendously positively impacting the workforce and visitors.
